2017

Abstract The research investigates the question of the importance of mentioning the name of the employer in online and offline social networks. Companies can use the networks of their employees to recruit new hires and to check habits and interests of likely new employees. To do that, the employee has to mention the name of the company in these social networks. The paper compares different real social networks used by family and friends and private and business social network sites (SNSs) as online social networks and compares the differences between men and women. The empirical research has been …

Interaction through social media: Development and validation of a social network site self-efficacy scale (SNS-SES)

2023

Today, more than ever before, awareness of our ability to interact with others through and use social network sites (SNSs) is of fundamental importance, in light of the fact that we are connected to the Web 24 h a day, 7 days a week. Studies of social media in recent decades have shown that self-efficacy is one of the key variables affecting individual online behavior. The general aim of the studies presented here was to develop and validate a new self-report scale measuring self-efficacy in SNS use (an SNS self-efficacy scale, or SNS-SES). Across two studies, a total of 1295 Italian adolescents and adults (ages 15 to 89; M = 38.21, SD = 15.6) participated. The SNS-SES consists of 24 items …

"I ate an apple today" : suitability of Facebook posts and reactions to norm violations

2015

Facebook on yksi maailman suosituimmista sosiaalisista verkostoitumissivuista. Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on selvittää mistä aiheista ihmiset kirjoitavat Facebookiin, mitä aiheita välttävät, mitä aiheita pitävät täysin sopimattomina ja miten he reagoivat epäsopiviin kirjoituksiin. Näitä kysymyksiä varten suoritettiin verkko-kysely, jossa kysyttiin avoimesti vastauksia näihin kysymyksiin. Vastaaj…
